Mabel Easton was born in Arlington, Massachusetts, on September 24, 1882, to John A. Easton and Martha P. Brock Easton. She went to English High School in Somerville, Massachusetts from 1898 to 1902. She attended Mount Holyoke College in 1902-1903 and from 1904-1907. After graduating with a Bachelor of the Arts degree in English, she attended the National Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) Training School from September to December 1907. Missionary; born Mabel Easton, September 24, 1882; in 1917 she went as a missionary to the Belgian Congo under Africa Inland Mission; she helped set up schools for children and women and led prayer groups for women; married John G. Buyse in 1928 and together they served as missionaries in Aru and Kasengu (Belgian Congo), Goli, (Uganda), and Opari (Sudan); retired to AIM's retirement center in Clermont, Florida, 1957; died, 1967; her husband died in 1959.
